Surat, Gujarat
Surat is a famous city in Gujarat. In early days it was a prominent trade center. It was leading even in the field of education and knowledge. There were many prominent scholars staying here. Shri Prannathji spent 17 months in Surat, preaching the teachings of his Guru. He subdued eminent Vedantic scholars Bheem Bhatt and Shyam Bhatt, in discussions over religious scriptures and knowledge, who later became his disciples. Thousands of men and women followed suit and became his disciples, and many of them wanted to remain with him drinking the nectar of his divine words, day and night. Swamiji named them 'Sundar Sath'. It was in Surat that Shri Prannathji was offered the throne of leadership (Gadi), and his disciples adorned him with the title, 'Mahamati Swami Prannathji'. Since this auspicious work was performed here, the institution here came to be known as Shri 5 Maha Mangalpuri Dham. Thousands of devotees visit this place in Saiyadpura, and it is popularly known as 'Mota Mandir'. Mahamati's Jagni-Abhiyan commenced from here in the year 1672 A.D. (V.S. 1729)
